K-Lacer x!
Each one-hour session – led by artist-activist and educator Jae Hwan Lim and Spanish
Language teacher Elena Kelly – has a Special Guest from a branch of Korean Culture
and/or Life. The focus is on actual doers here and in Korea who perform, create, make
things happen. We’ve been to the studio of a very edgy (but delightful) L.A.-based artist,
had a conversation at the kitchen table – in Seoul! – of a working overseas journalist.
We’ll keep going back to Korea. Where sessions themselves go, is where guests and the
group takes them. Topics in the works range from LGBT identity and justice, young
people’s issues, artist talks, dance, food, and peace in the Korean Peninsula.
K-LACER X! invites students from four Los Angeles Unified School District high schools — John Marshall, Fairfax, Hollywood, North Hollywood. Students of all backgrounds share a cultural adventure that also leads within, to a deeper personal understanding of their own
heritage cultures and identities.

The program is organized by L.A.C.E.R. Afterschool Programs and sponsored by the Republic of Korea Ministry of Education / Korean Education Center LA and LA Councilmember David Ryu.
